Gail R. Eaton, President

Dr. Eaton holds a B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering. She received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science from Lehigh University and was a postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University in Polymer Chemistry. Her previous positions include Manager of Research and Development at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory and Associate Director of the Office of Industrial Programs in Energy Conservation for the U. S. Department of Energy. At TRI, she has served as Executive Director and Manager of Academic and Government affairs. Dr. Eaton was appointed to the position of President of the Institute on May 8, 1997.


Eleanor Lehman, Secretary/Treasurer

Ms. Lehman serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the TRI Board of Trustees. In this role, she manages the marketing, human resources, and finance divisions of the Institute. Ms. Lehman, who is currently earning her M.B.A. at Rutgers University, brings a highly effective combination of hands-on experience and creative resourcefulness to her position. She holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University and has been with TRI since 1999 in a variety of scientific research, marketing, business, and management positions.


Peter D. Kaplan, Research Director

Dr. Kaplan holds a B.A. in Physics from Haverford College and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania. After earning his Ph.D., Dr. Kaplan was appointed as a Visiting Scientist at the NEC Research Institute under Dr. A. Libchaber and later as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania under Dr. D. Weitz. Prior to joining TRI in 2006, Dr. Kaplan was the Director of Measurement Science at Unilever Research and Development where he helped to evolve measurement standards. He looks forward to continuing his work in this crucial area and providing breakthrough knowledge on problem-focused measurement science to TRI's wide range of customers. Dr. Kaplan brings his expertise in optics, image analysis, and skin care to grow the portfolio of capabilities in TRI's personal care group.

Dr. Kaplan was named a Distinguished Industrial Visiting Fellow in the Materials Research & Engineering Department at Harvard University. He has co-authored 25 refereed publications and presented at a number of international and domestic conferences.
