This intensive two-day course is based on the premise that an understanding of how cosmetic treatments affect human hair properties is critical for the development of successful products. The course will cover the current concepts of hair fiber structure and morphology and will then provide fundamental background for specific characterization methods. The effects of treatments on the surface and bulk properties of single hair fibers and hair assemblies will be explored, and methods will be discussed for the objective, quantitative measurement of these effects. Course will be enhanced with lectures from TRI’s Hair & Scalp Biology workshop as well as TRI’s Science Behind Hair Claims Course.
