Princeton,
NJ -
TRI is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Michael Drzewinski
as the next President of the Institute. "We are incredibly
pleased to have Dr. Drzewinski join the Institute," stated
Mr. Karl Krummel, Chair of the Board of Trustees of TRI/Princeton.
"With an extensive background in strategic development
and implementation of technical initiatives, Dr. Drzewinski
will lead the Institute in formulating a stronger vision including
expansion into new areas of fundamental and contract research,
while continuing to provide TRI's customers with superior
service."
Dr. Drzewinski
holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute,
a M.Sc. in Polymer Science and Engineering from University
of Massachusetts, and Sc.D. in Materials Science and Engineering
from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Drzewinski
began his industrial career with positions of increasing responsibility
in both research and new business development at Kimberly-Clark,
EniChem and Allied-Signal/Honeywell. He was part of a number
of highly successful teams which developed several new products
(eg. form fitting diapers), new businesses (eg. thermoplastic
ostomy adhesives) and new applications (eg. high strength
protective fibers).
Most recently,
Dr. Drzewinski held positions as the Chief Innovation Officer
and Global VP of Technology at International Specialty Products
where he enhanced growth of both technical and customer partnering
programs, managed global technical resources and improved
organizational effectiveness. In addition, he is recognized
by colleagues of many consumer companies for creating and
developing innovative partnerships leading to enhance collaboration
and product development. He looks forward to using his management
strategy and style to enhance TRI's efforts in performing
fundamental and contract research for a wider range of clients.
"I
am excited and honored to be TRI's seventh President. I have
a particular passion for using innovative approaches in the
development and commercialization of new technologies and
applications. This coupled with the interests and expertise
of current TRI clients and Institute members will create a
strong part of our short term initiatives. I know many of
TRI's current members well and so I believe we can quickly
build a deeper relationship and advance our mutual research
efforts." Dr. Drzewinski stated. "I also intend
to utilize my experience in partnership activities to generate
creative new interactions with key universities and other
external resources to further enhance TRI's long term capabilities
and reputation. This will include continuing the Institute's
educational programs started by Dr. Eaton." Dr. Drzewinski
noted.
Dr. Drzewinski
succeeds Dr. Gail Eaton who has recently retired following
twelve years as TRI President. Having joined TRI in 1990,
Dr. Eaton held various positions where she made significant
contributions to the organization. Amongst numerous accomplishments,
she founded the Institute's professional education program
to keep learning and education a central part of TRI's mission.
