Dr. Yash K. Kamath Named New Editor of Textile Research Journal

Princeton, NJ -- TRI/Princeton is pleased to announced that Dr. Yash K. Kamath, Research Director, has been named to succeed the late Dr. Ludwig Rebenfeld as Editor of the prestigious, peer-reviewed Textile Research Journal (TRJ). According to Dr. Gail Eaton, President of TRI/Princeton, "We are very excited to have Dr. Kamath take over this role. We feel he is a perfect candidate for the position and look forward to the path that the journal will take under editorial his direction."

Dr. Kamath joined TRI in 1972 as a polymer and colloid chemist after graduating from the University of Connecticut with a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry. He currently directs the research areas of Hair Chemistry and Physics, Finish Analysis, Textile Science, and Carpet Performance. In October of 2002, Dr. Kamath was awarded an Honorary Membership to the Fiber Society in recognition of his outstanding career as a fiber and polymer scientist.

As Editor, Dr. Kamath will be in charge of choosing papers for publication based on their technical and editorial merit, and then assigning them to reviewers who will further examine them for content and clarity. Dr. Kamath, who describes this positions as "a true honor," will officially assume the role of Editor on October 1, 2004. Since its founding nearly 75 years ago, Textile Research Journal has served as the premier forum for the presentation of scientific results that introduce new concepts, innovative technologies, and improved understanding of textile materials and processing. In monthly issues, TRJ presents peer-reviewed research and review papers from worldwide research centers dealing with direct chemical and physical experiments, mathematical modeling, and theoretical analysis of textile systems.

TRI/Princeton was founded in 1930 by an act of US Congress as the Textile Research Institute to help the American textile industry stay competitive. Over the decades, TRI has evolved into a full-service independent research and testing facility, specializing in porous materials, textiles and fibers, hair, polymers, and films. TRI now provides research solutions to a wide variety of domestic and international industrial companies, governmental organizations, and academic institutions.
