Princeton,
NJ - TRI/Princeton is pleased to announce that Dr. Kenneth
S.W. Sing has been awarded the prestigious TRI Honorary Fellowship
granted to individuals who have made exceptional contributions
to the advancement of textile, fiber, and porous materials
research. According to Dr. Alexander V. Neimark, TRI Research
Director, Dr. Sing, whom he nominated for this honor, "is
one of the most prominent figures in adsorption science."
His achievements have laid the foundation for research of
MCM-41 materials as unique adsorbents and for developments
in the synthesis and characterization of novel adsorbents
and catalysts.
With
a career spanning nearly six decades, Dr. Sing has held positions
at Salford Royal Technical College, Liverpool College of Technology,
Brunel University, and Exeter University, as well as acting
as a consultant to a variety of international industrial companies.
Dr.
Sing is the co-author of the well-known books Adsorption,
Surface Area and Porosity (Gregg and Sing, 1982) and Adsorption
by Powders and Porous Solids (Rouquerol, Rouquerol and Sing,
1999). He is also a senior author on more than 200 research
papers.
"His
talent is indispensable and truly appreciated by the international
scientific community," stated Dr. Neimark in his nomination
recommendation. TRI is proud to present this fellowship to
Dr. Sing, who has collaborated with the Institute on many
occasions and has been an invaluable addition to educational
events and research projects alike.
Previous
recipients of the TRI Honorary Fellowship include Herbert
Hoover, Sir Hugh Taylor, and Roger Milliken.
