Boeing Commercial Airplanes
John is a member of the Boeing Commercial Airplanes Senior Advisory Group. This group provides insight and guidance to the Commercial Airplanes Leadership Team on market and competitiveness analysis, product strategy, process and tool deployments, organizational constructs and technical risk management.
John was vice president and general manager of the 747, 767 and 777 Programs and the senior executive responsible for the Boeing facility located in Everett, Washington. Previous assignments included: program manager for the 767-400, director of 747/767 Quality Assurance, director of 747/767 Derivatives, program manager for the 767 Freighter, deputy chief project engineer for the Boeing 747 and chief structures engineer for the Boeing 777 empennage.
John joined Boeing in 1968 as a research engineer in the Materials and Processes organization. He held several management assignments in composites, adhesive bonding and aluminum alloy development.
A graduate of Gonzaga University, John received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from Princeton University. He is a Graduate Fellow of the Textile Research Institute, Princeton, New Jersey and a Graduate Fellow of the Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of California, San Francisco.
John served as co-chair of the Aerospace Cluster Working Group, Puget Sound Regional Council and was a member of the Snohomish County Executive’s Citizens Cabinet. He was honored as the 2002 Corporate Executive of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce, Everett, Washington. He received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Gonzaga University in 2004.
John retired from Boeing in 2005. He served on the Visiting Committee, Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, University of Washington. He is Board President Emeritus of the Future of Flight Foundation.
