Skin Moisture and Water Content
Actual physical water content in the skin can be studied utilizing vibrational spectroscopy or alternatively
throughout the layers of skin using Confocal Raman or FTIR Imaging spectroscopy.
Tape stripping experiments allow
us to monitor the hydration level
in the stratum corneum. This
example shows that using a new
application method significantly
improves the moisturization
benefit to the skin.
