The challenge, set by the organizers of the 2026 IFSCC Congress, was to identify ways that the cosmetics industry can continue to lead innovation, while ensuring that this innovation is sustainable. Surely with 76 podium presentations from the best laboratories in the world, 748 posters and ~1250 delegates an answer could be found!

The IFSCC is a ‘Federation’ of 48 national cosmetic societies around the world, representing over 16,000 cosmetic scientists. My job, as UK representative on the Presidium (the leadership team), is to act as Treasurer. While the IFSCC is a not-for-profit organization based in Switzerland, just like any other company or organization, it needs tight financial management and has both legal and tax obligations.
