The Program
This course focuses on attributes of hair together with testing and technical knowledge leading to the support of product claims. In addition, there is a review of the media perspective and regulatory aspects of the claims process.
This course will be moderated by Dr. Trefor Evans, Director at TRI with more than 18 years experience in the hair care industry. Additional lecturers will include TRI staff as well as industry experts such as Chris Gummer, Cider Solutions Ltd., UK and Norm Loveless.
In addition, laboratory tours and demonstrations will be included to help reinforce the ideas expressed in the lectures. The course content has been updated to include the latest research and practices in hair care claims science and is intended to be a primer for staff new to the field of human hair chemistry and those working with hair care product development and claims support. The class focuses on attributes of hair together with testing and technical knowledge that leads to the support of product claims. In addition, there is a review of the media perspective as well as regulatory aspects of the claims process.

About the Course
TRI, the internationally recognized institute for hair research, is proud to offer a two-day course, The Science Behind Hair Claims at our facility in Princeton, New Jersey. This course provides an overview of the science used to substantiate marketing claims for hair care products. The instructors explore the various attributes of hair, and the well established ways to evaluate these parameters. Students will gain an understanding of how claims are typically made.
The style of this course is a unique approach which provides marketers with an understanding of the magnitude of the scientific principles behind the claims relevant to the hair care industry. A lab tour will be included providing the chance to see the instruments used to conduct testing for claim substantiation. Participants will gain knowledge and understanding of the principles of hair and hair product interactions; thereby enhancing their skills for future product claims.

Registration Fee $1995 TRI Member $1925
Fee covers course, course materials, continental breakfast, and lunch.
Attendees have the opportunity to register for this course alone, or bundle it with registration for our additional events during that week, both the “5th International Conference on Applied Hair Science” and the “Hair and Scalp Biology Workshop” will run that week.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made on or before September 2, 2012 will receive a refund for registration minus a $400 administrative fee. Registrations may also be transferred to another registrant at no charge.
