About the Course
Hair is often described as “the frame of the face” and represents an important symbol of social status, cultural identity, and individuality. Having a “good hair day” contributes significantly to our overall sense of wellbeing. Conversely, age-related hair loss, androgenetic alopecia, and other forms of hair loss can have a profound negative impact on psychological wellbeing, as can poor scalp health characterized by dryness, flaking, and pruritus. These fundamental consumer needs have driven the hair-care category to become the second-largest segment of the global cosmetics market, after skin care, generating global revenues of approximately USD 100 billion.
This introductory course on hair science and claims is designed for graduate and post-graduate level cosmetic scientists who need to build their knowledge in hair science and claims substantiation. Attendees will leave with an understanding of hair structure and biology, hair product science and the key measurement techniques used to test the performance of hair products and support hair claims.
This course will be given by TRI Princeton, a world-leading research institute focused on hair and skin testing for cosmetic applications.
