If you want to show how well your product improves hair shine or lustre, then you might consider performing a hair shine test.

Healthy, shiny hair is a common consumer request and hair products can improve shine in a number of different ways.  The most common approach is simply through addition of conditioners and controlling hair alignment.  Our shine tests can be used to measure these effects and can also be used to explore how hair damage prevention or repair of damaged fibers can improve overall shine performance.

TRI uses the SAMBA hair system from Boss Nova Vision to analyze and quantify hair shine (also called luster or gloss). In this system, swatches are combed, aligned over the black metal cylinder and illuminated with polarised light. The gloss bands are then interrogated through image analysis and a Reich-Robbins shine value generated.

This approach allows the effects of different treatments to be quantified.
