Ovi Kedo is a visionary force redefining the future of haircare, who brings clarity, compassion, and digital intelligence to the world of haircare. A technology pioneer who today designs the systems the industry will rely on tomorrow.

A bestselling author, domain expert, strategist, and innovator, he has spent ten years decoding the biology of hair, the psychology of consumers, and identifying cultural and other blind spots that have held the industry back. He has dedicated a career to helping people understand their hair and helping the industry finally understand its consumers

His work sits at the intersection of science, culture, and technology. It exposes the gaps, challenges the norms, and builds the systems that will define the next generation of beauty.

From innovating Ai led hair diagnostic systems to analysing product formulations to global trend forecasting, Ovi seamlessly translates complexity into insight and insight into action.

His mission is to replace confusion with confidence by creating a haircare ecosystem where every decision from product development to retail selection is informed, intentional, and human-centred.

To date unique insights have been shared with Microsoft, BBC Radio, Chicago Tech Week, the British Consulate, and leading brands including L’Oréal, Revlon, Cantu, Mielle, and Andre Walker and many more.

Ovi’s Abstract

Understanding product performance begins not with the formula, but with a deep interpretation of hair biology, damage pathways, and structural vulnerabilities. This work introduces a predictive modelling approach that prioritizes the biological state of the fiber as the primary driver of efficacy. By using AI to analyse multi-modal data—surface integrity we shift the focus from broad testing to individualized fibre analysis.

Prioritizing the Biological Blueprint

Instead of treating damage as a binary outcome, this system identifies complex patterns across the fibre’s landscape. By leading with an evaluation of the hair’s external state, we can more accurately map how specific interventions will behave.

Key areas of analysis include:

  • Cuticle Disruption: evaluating surface topography and barrier integrity.

  • Moisture Imbalance: confirming the fibre’s hygroscopic behaviour and porosity.

  • Scalp Environment: Assessing the external scalp condition to understand how the follicular environment influences the fibres needs & behaviour.

From Analysis to Alignment

By integrating these biological signals, the model predicts which product profiles are structurally aligned to specific fibre needs. This approach moves beyond traditional "one-size-fits-all" testing, enabling researchers to differentiate between various mechanisms of action with high precision. The result is a clearer understanding of how a product interacts with the hair’s natural state, providing stronger, data-backed evidence for performance claims.

A Holistic Research Lens

The goal is to provide researchers and formulators with a dynamic framework that leads with fibre behaviour. By reducing data noise and focusing on the interaction between biology and chemistry, this model aligns laboratory testing with real-world hair histories. This advances our ability to validate performance across diverse hair types through a more sophisticated, predictive, and biologically-centered lens.
