Fatigue Symposium Box Set Now Available
Single fiber fatigue testing often yields substantially larger differences between samples, in terms of breakage tendences, than those obtained by traditional tensile testing. It also highlights the sizable contribution of previously unrecognized factors and considerations to the breakage process, which can be used to derive potential new strategies for breakage avoidance.

NYSCC Suppliers’ Day 2025: Many New Contacts Made
North America’s premier ingredients & formulation event, Suppliers’ Day, took place on Tuesday 3rd June and Wednesday 4th June. Members of the TRI team were present at Booth 243 talking about the services, educational activities and research activities that TRI provides. There was also a chance for visitors to the booth to test their hair quality using our portable infra-red spectrometer, and to look at their scalp health with a portable microscope.

Everybody is Talking About: Glass Hair
Most procedures for achieving glass hair recommended use of a heat protection spray before styling, as well as applying hair serum conditioning products and a hold spray afterwards. While the efficacy of heat protection sprays is a contested area, the use of conditioning products prior to straightening and a hold spray straight afterwards are likely to be significant contributors to the ‘glassiness’ of the hair after treatment.
