Double shampooing is a trend that is gaining traction within health and beauty, but what is it and why would you do it? This short article will take a closer look at the trend of double shampooing and whether there are any risks of oil or protein stripping and the likelihood of subsequent hair damage.

This intensive two-day event provided attendees with the knowledge in hair science and claims substantiation needed to succeed in the field through delivering materials related to hair structure and biology, hair product science, and the key measurement techniques used to test the performance of hair products and support hair claims.

We have had a great deal of interest in podium and poster presentations (which must be given in-person at Red Bank, New Jersey). Suppliers’ Day 2026 is held at the Javits Convention Center in New York City on May 19th and 20th. The Fundamentals of Hair Science and Claims Course is filling up fast, with live places now sold out! The two-day intensive program – on April 15 and 16 – is a must-attend for those who work within hair science and claims substantiation.

High-performance thin layer chromatography, also abbreviated to HPTLC, is a specialized technique that is an extension of thin layer chromatography (TLC), an analytical technique used extensively within chemistry.

The development of an automated test for monitoring split-end closure enables TRI to continue to provide excellent, reliable support for customers – especially those working within hair repair. In addition, more granular data generation means that split-end closure across a range of categories, for example hair type, enabling probing of treatments designed for different international markets or differing consumer hair profiles.

Hair Course & 12th International Conference on Applied Hair Science Both Open to Registrations

The TRI annual hair conference is held on alternate years and is known to showcase the scientific advances made in the fields of hair biology, hair structure and properties, hair damage and new methods and technologies. This year is no exception, with several keynote speakers already announced.

Registrations for the popular ‘Fundamentals of Hair Science and Hair Claims’ course are now open. The course will take place on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th April 2026 and will be live streamed online. There are also limited places for attendance on-site at TRI.

This fourth TRI Talk of 2025/26 was given by Dr. Ernesta Malinauskyte and was a whistle-stop tour of the work that TRI has recently undertaken into the world of hair lipids. While Ernesta is greatly interested in this area, it’s also receiving a great deal of attention from the haircare industry, and the more that we learn about hair lipids, the more it’s becoming clear that they are a vital part of hair and scalp health.
