Skin Course 2026: Our Best Yet!

The Principles of Skin Measurement & Claims course took place on September 15th and 16th 2026, attracting 108 attendees, 22 of whom attended the live event at TRI and were also able to take part in the demonstrations of various test methods. The presentations are still available to stream by attendees by using the original Zoom link for 3 months, and the lab tour videos are available for all to access in the TRI Library: In-Vivo Application Testing; Skin Hydration & Moisturization; Ex-Vivo Testing; and, Microscope Skin Imaging.
Attendees from around the globe saw talks from both TRI staff and our external partners, covering a range of topics including the anatomy and physiology of the skin, creating good skin cosmetics claims, skin product evaluation techniques, UV protection studies, measurement of sensory parameters, the use of spectroscopy in claims substantiation, and microscopy of the skin (for which we are preparing a TRI Academy mini-series, the first being “An Introduction to Microscopy and Imaging Techniques”, with the second coming very soon).
Industry leaders including Dr Jessica Turner, Vanessa Castro, Dr Alexa Wong, Dr Paul Cornwell, Dr Samuel Gourion-Arsiquaud from TRI Princeton, alongside Dr Ritamaria Di Lorenzo (University of Naples Federico II, Italy), Loïc Colomb (QIMA Life Sciences, France), Elodie Gras Lavigne (Neuron Experts, France), Dr Michael Conneely (Ten Bio Ltd, United Kingdom) and Professor Perry Xiao (Biox Systems Ltd., United Kingdom) gave in-depth overviews and valuable insights into claims substantiation. For in-person attendees, there was a BBQ on the TRI terrace, which also featured jazz singers and the opportunity to talk with TRI staff and associates.
