TRI continued its tradition of excellence at the 79th Annual Scientific Meeting & Showcase of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) in New York. Our booth was a vibrant hub of activity, where we reconnected with longtime collaborators and welcomed back former interns who are now thriving in their professional journeys.
With over 45 expert speakers and 125+ posters, the meeting was a powerhouse of scientific exchange. TRI was at the forefront of these discussions, contributing two featured talks from our Skin and Biosubstrates Team and three poster presentations.
Cutting-Edge Science on Stage
Our team members, Marcella Gabarra and Samuel Gourion-Arsiquaud, delivered well-attended sessions that sparked significant interest:
Marcella Gabarra: Discussed using vibrational spectroscopy during clinical evaluations to investigate skin and scalp physiology and support cosmetic claims.
Samuel Gourion-Arsiquaud: Focused on leveraging vibrational spectroscopy to substantiate "bond repair" claims.
A Major Win for TRI
The icing on the cake was Samuel Gourion-Arsiquaud receiving the Society of Cosmetic Scientists Award. This prestigious honor recognizes the best paper from the previous year’s meeting that made the greatest scientific contribution to understanding or protecting human skin against UV damage.
Samuel’s award-winning research, "Increased Temperature Related to Climate Change Impacts the Penetration of Sunscreen into Our Skin," addresses a critical, modern environmental challenge.
"I am extremely honored to receive this award from such a prestigious society," Samuel noted. "Protecting skin against external damage and using biophysical techniques to evaluate products is a core mission of my group. I am proud to contribute to such an important field of study."
Don’t Miss the Upcoming TRI Talk
To dive deeper into the science of sun care for a warming planet, join us for our next TRI Talk:
Title: Beyond SPF: Next-Generation Sunscreen Development for Maximized Efficacy and Safety in a Warming Climate (A Spectroscopic Approach)
Speaker: Samuel Gourion-Arsiquaud
Date: February 11, 2026
The Details: Discover how vibrational spectroscopy reveals how rising temperatures impact sunscreen efficacy and safety. Samuel will demonstrate how this data is being used to formulate the next generation of high-performance sun care products.
